Nicolosi Distributing was first started in 1975 by Palmina Nicolosi. While her husband Tony was working as a painter in Redwood City from 1970-1975, Palmina approached him with the idea of selling auto body supplies themselves. At first the thought of starting a new business was a real risk. Palmina was very determined and convinced Tony to let her try. And so in 1975, with three little ones in tow, the Nicolosi Company began. Palmina would head out to different parts of the bay area on her own with supplies in her van. She would make shop calls and deal with body shops directly. In the 1970’s it was tough for a woman working in a male dominated industry. Palmina did not let those obstacles stop her nor was she intimidated. Day after day, week after week, she would drive all over the bay area meeting body shop owners & employees.

Tony was so surprised & proud of Palmina’s progress in her new business. She convinced him to quit his job painting cars and join her full time with the business. So in 1975 they opened Nicolosi’s first location in San Carlos, California. Tony continued to paint cars after hours for extra money until the business was in full swing.

Tony’s knowledge of the auto body industry started in Rome, Italy around 1965 after he finished his military time. Palmina’s business smarts & Tony’s body shop experience made a great combination.

With Palmina running the office, managing the warehouse and caring for three young children, Tony focused on working in the field making shop calls and meeting customers. It wasn’t easy, but over 40 years later Nicolosi Distributing is running strong with two bay area locations. One in San Carlos and another in San Jose.

Their eldest son, Danny, joined the business full time in 1989 & later came younger siblings Antonio & Francesca who helped blossom the companies growth. It truly is a family run business.

Tony continues to run the companies daily operations along with his son Danny. Your guaranteed to see Tony & Danny on a daily basis overseeing the company.
